This section relates to the Razr Phones provided by Verizon Wireless only.

Yet another section of guides. Kind of a catch all for things that don't quite fit into the other categories.

Get your phone wet? What you should do...

Hopefully you made it here before your phone got wet, but since that is unlikely, here is the best advice we can offer. Most of this is really just common sense.

Please be aware that your insurance may not cover water damage, the white ‘dots’ inside of your phone are moisture sensors. If these come in contact with moisture they turn red / pink. If this happens, there is no fooling a tech, don’t bother trying.

Guide created by: DSMcL

Warning: This is information gathered from the web and has not yet actually been tested by the people at Hack the Razr. We accept no responsibility for you pan frying your phone.

Also note that next time, try placing a piece of glossy tape over your water damage indicator (covering the entire sticker) so that you may be eligible for exchange due to not indicating water damage with the sticker.

For this guide we will be using:
* A wet Razr
* A small flathead screwdriver
* A T5 and T6 torque driver
* thin hard piece of plastic to pry off face plate
* QD Electronic Cleaner by CRC*

IMPORTANT!!!!! DO NOT ATTEMPT TO POWER UP YOUR PHONE
IMMEDIATELY take out the battery and TF card then follow this guide as soon as possible, the longer the phone sits exposed to air after being wet the worse it is for your phone.

    Click here for a guide on how to take about your phone

      General Guidelines
      Clean your phones pcb’s thoroughly with Electronic Cleaner* being sure to use the included brush to remove any contaminants , rust, etc..

      If using alcohol, you may pour alcohol over the phone, then thoroughly swab the parts with q-tips

      If you are confident enough you can take out the pcb’s and detach the cables, carefully clean them and all connections with q-tips and alcohol

      Make sure all parts are free of moisture, debris and residue, then let the parts sit and dry for at least 24 hours

      Follow the guide backwards to reassemble your phone

      Do not reinsert TF card until you are sure the phone is working properly Reinsert the battery and try your phone.

      If it does not work, and you are able, try a new battery.

      Options without taking your phone apart
      ( first always remove the battery and TF card ):

      Submerge phone in 95% Isopropyl Alcohol, Medical ( not commercial ) Ethanol or deionized water

      Shake out excess fluid and allow to dry for 1-3 days depending upon the liquid used

      Things others have tried and claim success:
      Air drying it for a few days

      Using a blow dryer to dry it

      Putting the phone into an oven at roughly 120 degrees ( not recommended )

      Sealing in a bag with white rice ( lol )

      Putting near a dry low heat source such as forced air heating ducts or vents

      Sealed with Silica packets ( often found packaged with shipped electronics , shoes and such ) for a couple of days

      Same with calcium chloride pellets

      * QD Electronic Cleaner by CRC is very good, but any available, quality electronics cleaner ( suitable for circuit boards ) will do. Denatured alcohol or deionized water will also suffice.

Master Reset/Master Clear with Radiocomm

How it works

  1. In radiocomm you need to select the main pulldown menu, select MA >CDMA1X >6500 chipset Base.
  2. then in the settings pull down menu, select USB>M-Link USB Driver
  3. in the main RadioComm window, click on the P2K1 tab

The computer should then "beep", and you should see the radio detection change from a blue circle to a green circle. just below the middle of this window and to the right you should see the options to master clear and master reset.

If i were you i would not mess with any of the other settings you may see on this window unless you want a brick atleast not b4 you do some serious research into what this program is capable of and what each option does.

VZW Media Player Album Art

Ah yes, this is a sweet little addition to the media player side of your phone. This guide will teach you how to specify and automatiaclly upload album covers for any and all of the music that you upload to your phone. And yes, it will display on your phone when the song plays. Pretty sweet huh? Thanks to Shakirafan from our forums for figuring this one out

For this guide we will be using:
* Motorola Razr V3M / KRZR for Verizon
* Windows Media Player 10
* An album cover

How to setup that album cover!
    1. Open up Windows Media Player 10
      2. Select the song(s) that you would like to specify the album cover for (yes, you can select multiple songs and apply this album cover by using the CTRL key or the SHIFT key on your keyboard)

      3. After you select the songs you want to specify the album cover for, right mouse click them, and then select Advanced Tag Editor

      4. Go to the Pictures tab and click the [Add...] button

      5. Find the image that you would like to specify for the album cover. It is recommended that this image not exceed 200 x 200 pixels in dimensions. And yess, if you go over 200 x 200 it might not work. Once you find the image, highlight it and click OK.

      6. You should now see the image preview. Under Picture Type: click the blank drop down menu and choose Cover (front)

      7. Now click OK and WMP10 will begin to add the image to the selected songs. After this finishes it will go back to the normal WMP10 window, and weeeeeee! its ready to go

      8. Now simply sync the music with your phone as you would normally, then goto the song you specified the album cover and look in amazement as you listen to Shakira - Hips Don't Lie and get to see a spicy image of her at the same time...
