Applying Skins (V3a)

by:bio-chemical-productions

THINGS YOU WILL NEED:

-usb cord
-v3a
-correct drivers
-skin you want to apply (skins that work are ones for any moto phone that uses the Moto UI) i found some decent pre-made ones at modmymoto
-Skins Manager (skiman) or alternate download here by signing up at modmymoto

REMINDER: you may need to extract the files from the folder if you are downloading the skins.

what to do:

This is very simple. Start Skins Manager. Then plug in your phone. It will make the chime noise as its connecting. When its done connecting you will notice in the bottom right corner it will tell you how much free space. If it says 0 then either your phone isn't connected or your phone is full. When you know your phone is connected and ready to go. you must click the "install" button. a list of Skin Patches will pop-up.. What these do are make little changes to the skin that you are about to apply.. un-check them all until you are comfortable messing around with them. now click ok. it should bring up a box that wants to know where the skin file is located. So locate the file. Then press open. it should load the skin into your phone. Now go to the little button that says more. click it and select restart your phone. when your phone is restarted you may unplug it and then you can set your skin.
to set your skin from your phone go to settings/personalize/skins and select your new skin!

Enjoy!

Change start up and shut down animations

the things you will need to work with is:
1. msu
2. p2kc ( p2k commander)
3. 2 pictures in gif format sized 176 x 220
4. USB cable for moto razr

first off this guide is pretty much identical to the verizon modding guide for this subject so if you have done this with a verizon v3m then you will have no trouble with this one.

1. select the pics you are gonna use for your start up and shutdown. make sure they are in GIF format and sized at 176 x 220. to big or to small and the results wont work. also there is premade ones on motox.com ( http://www.motox.info/showthread.php?t=5952 )You can browse the list for some good ones and if you dont have or know how to convert your pics to GIF format just signup with moto x and in the link which is a forum post your pics and ask nicely for someone to convert them and they will do it.They are usualy cool about making them and will also make you a lcd image , screensaver, and couple wallpapers.

2. once you have your pics ready open MSU and connect your phone. Your esn should read when it finds your phone. Then you can launch p2kc ( p2k commander). Once you have that open it on the right side drop down click p2k mobile phone. It should start auto loading your phones files. When files are done fully loading you should see under file name the letter A. click on it and it will show a list with the top 3 bein ( BREW , MOBILE , MOTOROLA) click on motorola , shared , and then pictures. When you have done that look for these 2 files in that list ( customer_closing.gif & customer_opening.gif )These are your start up and shutdown animations. You wanna save these to a file so if you open you phone files on the left side and copy them to folder on the right side with C:\ being in the drop down you will have a back up.

3. Once you have done that have your pics you selected ready and formatted and read this closely. YOU MUST NAME THE START UP PICTURE CUSTOMER_OPENING & SHUTDOWN PICTURE CUSTOMER_CLOSING. THERE IS NO NEED TO ADD THE GIF EXTENSION SINCE IT SHOULD ALREADY BE IN GIF FORMAT. ON THE RIGHT SIDE OF P2KC WITH THE LIST IN THE PICTURE FILE GO AHEAD AND DELETE THOSE 2 FILES JUST TO MAKE SURE YOUR NEW ONES COPY OK. THEN ON THE LEFT GO TO WHERE YOU HAVE SAVED YOU NEW PICTURES AND CLICK ON THAT FOLDER TO REVEAL YOU NEW PICS. HIGHLIGHT THE ONE YOU CHOSE FOR SHUTDOWN THEN CLICK COPY ON THE RIGHT HAND CORNER FOR P2KC WINDOW. ONCE IT LOADS YOU CAN DO THE SAME FOR START UP PIC ( I GO SHUT DOWN FIRST JUST BECAUSE THE ORDER IT APPEARS ON THE LIST WONT CONFUSE YOU)

4. After you have done that click the resart button and you can safely disconnect your phone. It will take a second to go back to main screen but once thats done you can test it by shutting your phone off and turning back on and walla it should display your new animations.
