AT&T V3re Hacks, Moto Phone tools 4.0

My wife was using the motorola V3c at first, using all of the hacks posted on this site i was able to P2K edit and use the motorola phone tolls 4.0 that i have to upload ringtones for her, however due to everything i was reading recently we switched to Cingular/AT&T when my contract was up because we heard they didn't lock their phones from phone tools, however i'm finding that it will not reconize her phone when connected...any suggestions. I installed the driver that i used with the V3c and it showed that it was installed and ready to use, but the phone tools will not recognize it? Please help because i run the risk of going to the "Pay for tones poor house"...
