Bell Razr2 V9m Flash

24740's picture

Hello all Thought I'd try my luck on my first post,

I'm seeing what is out there for possible software for a Bell Razr2 V9m

I've read posts mentioning there is a flash pack out for Bell

But rather then screw my phone up, which Bell has so nicely locked up, is there a thread or site
that explains the software and how 2 guides on doing these flashs with less risk of bricking my phone

I want to be able to add my own wall paper and ring tones if possible

any light you may shed on it would be greatly appreciated

Cheers

if you've read about bell

if you've read about bell flash pack on this site then you've most likely read about someone on the verizon network flashing their phone to bell's UI. i would think that to get tones and pics on your v9m you could use MPT. there is a guide for using and setting it up with a v3m/v3c in the guides section at the top of the page. i would also think a BT dongle would work nicely.

yea being you have an actual Bell phone there would be no reason to flash anything. Most discussion here talking about flashing are for folks who want to flash to another carriers firmware but continue to use the phone on the same network.

Anywhoo as to get ringtones & wallpaper on it that is pretty simple. the easiest would be bluetooth like Listenman mentioned. Next easiest would be MPT but you will need any version from 4.36 or higher ( maybe even 4.51 can't recall). Last but not least would be to use MSU along with p2kcommander to upload them. The ringtones go in the /motorola/shared/audio folder, and wallpaper goes in the /motorola/shared/picture folder. Here is a link for V9m info and how to's, FYI tho when you look for file location look for anything that mentions the Motoroal interface becasue your file locations will match. They are in fact different on other carriers firmware ( ie flashes) so disregard that into.

Oh and the how to's link on the left gives details as to how touse the different types of software. Just makes sure you reference v9m stuff because working with a v9m uses differnt software and stuff then a lot of the other info on that site whihc is for the original Razr.

is your phone charging? and in which order did you install drivers and MPT? MPT should be installed first then the driver set. MPT i've been told will overwrite drivers and that can cause problems connecting.

As mentioned you could be having issues depending on which order you installed things. MPT does in fact overwrite/update the drivers on its install. With that said it's an issue because the MPT drivers never work right. So like Listenman said MPT should be installed first then the drivers. Mind you all this gets done without ever plugging your phone into the comp ( ie the installs).

try this if you already have things installed. Leave MPT installed, and proceed forward and run the uninstaller for the drivers. After which time go over to www.download.com and grab a free copy of cCleaner, install that and then run the registry cleaner from within the program. After you get that done reboot your comp and follow this guide to install the drivers you already have. Do not use the drivers link in the guide just use the guide for the driver install seeing as you already have the more current drivers downloaded.

http://www.hacktherazr.com/guides/start-here

After you get the drivers and all that done do this. Plug the phone into the come, but do not fire up any program. Let windows do it's thing, then head to device manager and make sure you see your phone listed under modems as the Moto USB modem. If it's there as it should be move forward with MPT. Just remember everytime you let MPT update to a new version you will have to reinstall the actual Moto drivers before using MPT again. As a quick side note on that tho, once the drivers are installed correctly and you updated MPT you just have to run the "clean/reinstall" before trying MPT again and you should be good to go.

that's a new one on me....i don't doubt some have had that trouble and on the side of caution these steps may be required but i've updated without any problems. the only thing i've had is it not using the same profile that was already setup. if i can't get it to read the phone in the profile i have set up for it then i simply create a new profile with a different name. all good.

yea I also think it has to do with whether or not it's a legit copy or downloaded. I have a legit copy and download copies and it does seem that download copy I have has more issues then the legit copy.

Thought I'd follow up

I figured it out, it was in my phone setting's

Settings, Connection,USB Settings, changed it from USB Drive to Modem/Com
So a good leason learned, it was not a problem with the software,

I was able to use MPT, it was a legit copy a buddy gave me, he didn't like it, it works pretty good, it's a little slow, but I'm not complaining, it allows me to modify mp3 to edit and cut them down in size for ring tones, and allowed me to upload a few good wall papers,

Now if I can only turn off the shutter sound with the camera, and possibly up a few games
this phone would be the bomb for what I need

Thank you all for being open and giving straight up good info, instead of judging a newbie phone junkie

Peace
24/7
John

Duh I should have thought of

Duh I should have thought of that myself. My Telus v9m came stock the same way ( ie set to USB mode). One thing I don't think about all the time do to the fact that VZW does not give us that option or feature on the phones which is why I own a telus phone and have it on VZW's network...lol. Glad you figured it out tho.

As for the shutter sound the only way to do so is via a seem edit. I know I've seen it or have it somewhere so I'll try to dig it up and post it for you.

Edit: Found it here is the details, just make sure you save a copy of the seem file before editing it just in case something goes wrong for whatever reason. Also as a suggestion if you edit the 275a seem to whihc ever setting do the exact same edit to the 275b seem. that way if you ever do a Master reset you won't have to do the edit again.

Shutter Tone Manual Seem Edit

Since Shutter Tone isn't visible on the Telus or Bell flash you have to manually change it to the tone you want set.

Seem 275a Record 0001
Offset 011a

00 - None
01 - Chimp
02 - Quack
03 - Flix
04 - Boing
05 - Click

Thanks for the Info

My Bell phone shows those settings for sound, with exception to 00 none

do I save the seem file with Bitpim, and then edit both line 275a & 275b ?

Both Bitpim and P2K don't like my comport settings, even with a manual set up
If there is another program, or more detailed info that would be great if you could point me in that direction

Peace
