Cannot import mp3 into V3m please help!
Hello, I am new at modding phones, I was up nearly all last night trying to get this to work but I haven't had any luck yet. The USB cable I am using appears to be working correctly, as when I plug it in it beeps and charges the phone.
I own a Verizon V3M RaZr, which I'm trying to import my mp3's from my pc onto to use as ringers. Last night I followed the unlocking guide from this site: http://mypieceoftheinter.net/archives/19 , that seemed to work. (Basicly just the 2742 seem edit).
I have heard that verizon has tried to block these operations but I have performed both the "2742" and "2827" seem edits, but to no avail. I have tried using BitPim (which allowed me to import pictures, but gave me the "phone operation blocked" message when I tried to import mp3's.) Then I tried P2KCommander 3.2.2 (with MSU running), deleted the two .Db files, and tried importing an mp3. It gave the 'generic failure' message, but the file moved onto the phone screen, however after restarting my phone it does not show up in my ringers, and oddly when i start p2k back up its not in there anymore either.
Then I tried the MPT route, updated it and connected it with my phone (also doing the trick that opened up the Multimedia Centre) and set my phone as V3cm. When I tried to do the file transfer there, it gave me the "request denied by phone -forbidden)x43" message. I tried opening up the MelodyMaker and trimming it and then hitting the transport button, but it gave me the "unsupported media type" error.
This is providing such a headache and I would greatly appreciate any help, thanks.

answer one question first..

ehh. whats up doc?
it would help to know for

that being said, the latest doesn't easily take .mp3 files. p2k commander should work and it should've worked just the way you done it. mpt will only allow transfers of files ending with .qcp. if you know how to change file extensions that would be an easy enuff route. for help with the p2k commander process see this site but remember ringtones should go in the brew/mod/myringers folder for the latest f/w.
First off thank you for the

My s/w version is NEWC_01.09.02
And in response to listenman's post I check in p2k under a/brew/mod folder but there was no myringers folder so I'm assuming that version isn't mine.
If you have the
Posted: Mon, 08/18/2008 - 19:41 by teddyearpIf you have the NEWC_01.09.02 f/w on your phone you shouldn't have any troubles using the guides here and Motorola Phone Tools (MPT) to crop/edit/transfer you ringtones to your phone. I don't think you have to edit any other seems but those in 2742 to enable the Multi Media Studio (MMS) and of course USB transfers. As far as I know, whatever edits you may have done to the other 2827 seem should not be neccessary and therefore may be the source of your troubles.
good luck!
Also a VZW V3m flashed to USCC NCR_01.1B.00R, then upgraded via MSU and now flashed to ViVo and active on the USCC network.
2827 seem
Posted: Mon, 08/18/2008 - 21:22 by ubersoldier87good luck!
In that guide I linked the author said that the 2742 seem was for USB transfers, you think something in there messed it up? So then should I try and undo the 2827 seem (I'm not sure how but I'll look on this site for guides, I did back it up though) and then uninstall and reinstall MPT? Also just for clarification am I doing something wrong with P2K or is just my s/w incompatible?
*Update: I wnt to http://mark.cdmaforums.com/E815-V3C-Popular.htm, took the "PRE-EDITED SEEM for V3Mm" seem file, then went into p2kseem and did load from file, imported it, and then saved to phone. I closed p2k and msu, restarted my phone, and then tried running MPT, but I got the same error when trying to send the mp3 over to the audio folder using file transfer: "request denied by phone (forbidden 0X43))

you have same f/w i do. that
Posted: Mon, 08/18/2008 - 21:35 by spikejonesyou have same f/w i do. that being said.... best thing i can tell you is to undo what you've done to it according to that site by restoring the original seem files to the phone. reboot it, then start out in OUR guides section. all the stuff in OUR guides section is completely relevant to our firmwares.
you will need:
recent drivers
msu OR pst
p2k seem editor
p2k commander
bitpim
qpst
everyting has its own purpose. need help further... just ask. I only suggest that you undo that other stuff as i can only verify hacks for this phone that are listed on OUR site.
oh yeah.,. forgot to mention thought that on that firmware version, ringers go into /motorola/shared/audio
ehh. whats up doc?
Alright I will try re-doing
Posted: Mon, 08/18/2008 - 22:49 by ubersoldier87Alright I will try re-doing these steps, if I hit more issues with them I will post them here. One thing I'm a bit confused on is the order in which to use those programs, as I know generally what each does but not in what order I should use them (again right now all I'm focusing on is simply getting mp3's from my pc to the phone).
First of the seems you
Posted: Tue, 08/19/2008 - 05:48 by pyde_pypperFirst of the seems you grabbed from Mark_V's site will work perfectly fine. However the way you tried to load them is incorrect and that is why they are not working. You have yet to edit the seem. To use a backup seem or a premade seem you need to load the seem info from the phone first. Then click the load from file button to lastly turn around and click save to phone.
As for the 2827 seem yes do that edit. With the firmware you have that will allows MPT to autodetect your phone and have all functions work with it. However do not update your copy of MPT past version 4.51c, all the new version have other issue that you don't want to deal with. Also disregard the idea of the tone needing to be in *.qcp format. that is not the case wit hthe firmware you have they can in fact be in mp3 format and will transfer fine with the firmware you are running.

Ok that should help me out,
Posted: Tue, 08/19/2008 - 07:16 by ubersoldier87Ok that should help me out, I just check and I'm using MPT version 4.5.6a, that means I'm going have to uninstall and reinstall I'm guessing?
Also when you said it will autodetect my phone does that mean that I won't have to go thru all the steps on the guide (changing the phones modem and all that)?
Before you go and uninstall
Posted: Tue, 08/19/2008 - 07:29 by pyde_pypperBefore you go and uninstall it do the seem edits and see what you get. I don't recall exactly which version of MPT went to hell in the 4.xx or higher seeing as I don't use it anymore.
And yes that is what I mean. Once those seems are done MPT should just see the phone and function correctly without having to go threw all the other stuff in the guide. Keep in mind the only reason this is the case for you is because of the firmware you have. On the newer firmwares this would not be the case.
