Display timeout problem

KitsuneSunset's picture

I apologize if this has already been covered elsewhere, but I've noticed that on my Krzr K1m, Razr V3m, Rokr Z6m and my Slvr l7c that alot of times when i close the flips, slides, etc that my outer lcd displays for a long time after absolutely no activity. I've also noticed this on my fiance's Rokr as well as all the phones mentioned above, although mostly it is happening a LOT on my krzr, which i am using at the moment. Is there any way to fix this? I have tried everything in the initial setup options. It's really annoying. I have the display timer set to 1 minute... and no change no matter what i put it on. Sad Sad Sad Shocked

Please help.

Thanks

FYI it is a known issue. Best I was ever told is try a Master Reset or reflash it. If that does not work then it's a hardware issue. i've seen it on numerous devices so don't feel like you are the only one problem is there is no given fix for it tho.

I've had that happen on my vivo flashed V3m sometimes. Or it will just stay lit for a while, then finally shut off. On my V9m's the USCC flashed one fades off almost immediately, and the Telus one fades out but stays dimly lit for a bit longer. Hmmm. . .

Ok, so a master reset didn't do much of anything... I am not sure if i want to go so far as reflashing it though, because i'm sure USCC is tired of me switching phones constantly. Also, the guy that i got the krzr from had just gotten it back from Motorola because of a software issue. Regardless, when i close the phone, 9 times out of 10, it stays on, for long periods of time like 30 minutes or more... usually at 30 minutes i do something about it, like go into different menus and close the phone to see if it makes any difference.

So i guess my question is, do i just suck it up, deal with it and force myself to get used to it?

EDIT: Don't answer that. I've switched back to my razr in the meantime, but quickly, so i could save the pos krzr from death on cement. Smiling
I've written it off as a piece of shit until there's something i can do with it to help it so i can save its life.

UPDATE: So now i'm pissed, because i just reflashed it and so far so good, no problems. Do i dare activate it again??

Hey Kitty, kitty. . . Well, I guess you could activate it, it's just a shame that USCC doesn't make it as easy as VZW does. I spent all thes last few minutes aquiring a USCC monster for your K1m and planning out your situation.

Well, just for kicks, wehn I was on USCC, I backed up my Service Programming with QPST and then the CDMA NAM file with RSD General before flashing, then afterwards, restoring those files to the phone was all I needed to do. Well, knowing the SPC (which is not always all zero's) was pretty much key as well.

good luck

W000t!! I've pinpointed the culprit, which is not the phone or the firmware at all. It is the unlimited mobile browser and email app. For some reason, when you download the apps to the phone, the LCD decides it wants to stay on constantly. I'll stick with my free wap, thank you. w00t!

kinda makes sense as I've had the issue on my smartphoen where some pieces of software set the backlight to stay on all the time. I freaked on the one because every time I'd use the standalone GPS chip even after closing the app it still would leave it on. All depends the app. At this point tho all that counts is you got it figured out, WOOT!!!!!.

hehe... yeah. It wouldn't have been so bad, but with the outer lcd wanting to stay on constantly, like anyone i really don't like a quickly drained battery. It wasn't constant on my razr, so that's why i was frustrated with the krzr. glad i figured it out tho.. probably wouldn't have if i didn't totally flash it. Smiling
