how to use firefox while tethered to a laptop with metro pcs

while tetherd to my laptop using metro pcs i cant get firefox to connect. internet explorer works fine but when trying use firefox all i get is a blank page. i changed the proxy settings to what explorer is and nothing. i cant figure out what the hell im doing wrong and any help would be most appreciated. thanks, jim
