HTR wap 4 my V3m authentication failed ???

jga2z's picture

I've been trying for the last 24 hours to get the htr free wap to work. Keep getting "authentication failed". Been round and round here and everywhere to get to the bottom of the problem. No luck so far. I followed "how to" exactly, Using my htr username and pw, have wap enabled in my profile. Tried changing gateway ip# to 209.246.232.165 (per pyde_pyper post I read), adding deleting 2nd gateway, getting no where.
I use MPT all the time, but last week I did update which also gave me moto software updater, and moto connect, and driver installer. It's been a while since I used PST, All I can seem to get is phonebook data from phone. So I can't do any PC phone editing. I tried to download RSD CDMA Gen 5.1.6 from here, but it has spyware according to Avast.
Anybody with info please help.

Just an aside can I switch my Alltel (now stinkin VZW) V3m to any other carrier?

HTR wap case closed

Posted:

Well, I finally got HTR wap to work.
Not 100% sure what I did but the last thing I did was accidentely deleted the htr websession entry from/on the phone. I then loaded a saved .rtb file in RSD, changed proxy authentication to HTTP basic (I think it was HTTP digest by default on the phone?) saved , went to phone setup, set HTR to default, started browser and got the HTR wap page !!!!!!!!!
Now to see what happens with the charges. will post in a few days after bill cycle closes.

final settings are read via RSD CDMA gen

proxy name: HTR
cache startup: off (not an option on phone)
username: jga2z
password: HTR pw
proxy authentication: HTTP basic (not an option on phone)
homepage: http://homepage (changed from phone default proxy:homepage)
PRIMARY
gateway IP: 209.246.232.165 (found somewhere here on the site)
gateway: wap.hacktherazr.com
service type: HTTP
all ports 9201

Left Secondary info blank (no IP, gateway)

Thanks to everybody here for all the help Eye-wink
BTW Why didn't some one here just upload a HTR wap .rtb file to the site to download and install on phones via PST or RSD?????????????
Would save us all a lot of headaches Sad

Now for my final trick I will send us all back in time to when Alltel was the best phone company around these parts.

wap dun charges

Posted:

It looks like I'm just getting charged for minutes with the DUN. Shows as "data" call to 7770000001. I'm not sure, but it loks like wap usage, and celltop usage are also just using minutes. It also looks like all my "data" calls (dun, wap, celltop) are to that 777 number.
I don't have any charges under actual data kb usage.
I don't want to call and ask for fear of alerting them to anything, but it looks like I might actually have the wap included in my plan. So those charges, or lack of is not 100% clear.

Again thanks for all the help pyde_pypper, and dittos on you sig Eye-wink

Glad you got it done and fixed as well. All of this stuff sometimes tends to be a tiny bit different from person to person, phone to phone.

As far as why we don't upload a .rtb file for anyone, is because there is no 'one' magic one size fits all .rtb file. There are too many settings that change depending on what firmware you are running on your phone, what carrier your phone is on, and then all the different model variations of the Razr.

free wap

After further review of my account charges I have only minutes used for WAP, and NO charges for the short time DUN usage of 10+mb. I don't know what will happen if I use a few GB of data on the DUN, but it looks like it's free Jawdropping!

Cool, it sounds like your plan is similar to the old VZW America's Choice II plan, where data usage will only use your minutes and if your plan includes free nights and weekends, then it is truly free.

HOWEVER, and I am sure you know this already, if you do choose to use a few GB of data using DUN, DO plan on getting caught and hamstrung and your nards getting cut off; hell, maybe even gettin' tarred, feathered, and run outta town on a rail, lol. Eye-wink

IMHO what it comes down to is this. If you're getting DUN using 1x, there's really no way you can (comfortably) use enough bandwidth to raise a flag, unless you keep your comp constantly online as if you were using a regular broadband connection (even though you're only getting slightly faster than dial-up speeds). If you are using DUN on an EVDO connection and decide to use a few GB as you posted, not only might you ruin it for yourself, but maybe even others who DO NOT abuse their EVDO DUN as VZW is/will continue to monitor their bandwidth to keep it under control.

good luck

I completely agree with Teddy. If you plan is to use EVDO DUN you are seriously pressing your luck. It is a proven fact VZW monitors there EV side of the network. That said many folks over the years have gotten slammed with huge bills do to using DUN without paying for it as they should be. So with that said just be careful and don't go crazy style with it IMHO.
