I'm having a problem with my ringtones
I use P2k Commander to put ringtones onto my phone, but now when I go to view the ringtones, it shows my sound files. The ringtones still play when I get called, but I can't change them. When I put in a new one and delete and old one, it just gives me a random ringtone. Any idea how to fix this? Did I delete the wrong MytoneDB?

Need a little more detail

What version of the VZW firmware is currently running on your phone?
Also the tone you deleted was it set active to any ring style or in use as a custom ring ID for a specific contact when you deleted it?
FYI there is only 1 mytone.db file on the phone so you had t odelete the correct one.

Yeah, more details please.
Posted: Wed, 07/30/2008 - 19:37 by teddyearpYeah, more details please. But I have heard about more than one mytone.db file on the newer phones, the one you need to delete is in the root directory of your phone, i.e. a/.
good luck
Also a VZW V3m flashed to USCC NCR_01.1B.00R, then upgraded via MSU and now flashed to ViVo and active on the USCC network.
which folder did you put

Here's a list of the file

Sorry about the delayed

First off @ Pyde Pypper:
I don't know what my firmware is, or how to check it,
and yes, I deleted a tone that was in use, I'm pretty sure, but it was a while ago so I'm not totally positive. Although since this issue has occurred, I have deleted other ringtones in use, in which, the phone gave me a default ringtone to replace it.
@ teddy:
Yeah I've been deleting the one in the root directory... so that's what got me wondering what I did wrong.
@ listen:
Yeah I put them in shared/ringtones, which worked, but I'll try what you said.
Thanks a lot for the help so far, guys! I appreciate any assistance I can get!
As for finding the firmware
Posted: Thu, 07/31/2008 - 12:33 by pyde_pypperAs for finding the firmware version either take your battery out and look at the barcode. On the sticker where it show the model you should see a number listed underneath it that looks like S/W with a bunch of numbers following it. It will look something like this .01.19.07 Or you can go to tools&settings via the interface and head down to Phone info. I there you should see S/W. It could be a bit different on your, or you may not even see it. That has to do with what firmware is on the phone.
As for deleting tones that are in use it's hit or miss. Sometimes it messes things up, and other times it doesn't It's always best to NOT have the tone you want to delete active for any ring style.

well you seem to be putting
Posted: Sat, 08/02/2008 - 20:58 by listenman20well you seem to be putting them in the right folder(motorola/shared/ringtones). and you're deleting the mytones.db in the root directory. and you're rebooting your phone? then everything should be right. but i'd try to be more careful about deleting tones that are assigned. i'd go in and unassign them then delete from now on...i know its worked fine for you in the past but it doesn't now?
Yeah except I don't always
