V9M SHUTTING OFF AFTER RSD GENARAL 4.9.8 READS FILE

shooozs's picture

I was in the process of backing up my files before I flashed to the moto ui and I got to the part in the guide where I need to connect to rsd general 4.9.8 the phone connects no problem but when I check the files I want to back up and hit the read button it reads it and then the phone automatically shuts down on its own which leaves rsd gen hanging and im not able to save any of the files, I was wondering if anyone knows why the phone is powering down or if anyone has ran into this problem???

ive personally not had this issue before to be honest with you. perhaps try using PST to make the backups instead (as that program will get the files backed up in a more correct format, especially the mms settings file which specifically needs to get saved as a .mms extension and RSD seems to want to save it as a .vms file.)

You are correct PST does not work with the v9m. You have to use RSD General. However it is normal for RSD General to restart the phone tho, but it should come back on. I'd try a hard reset on the phone ( ie pull the battery for a min. Then when trying RSD again make sure nothing else is running on your comp. Also fire up RSD General prior to plugging you phone in and see what you get.

I've tried everything, the phone powers down and stays down the only way i can turn it back on is by taking the battery out and back in, do you think it could be my drivers because I've tried this on 2 different v9m's with the same outcome.

It could in fact be the drives. Which version are you using? FYI the most recent is 3.7.0

Also what firmware version do you have on it currently? Reason I ask is if memory serves me a buddy had the newer firmware not the original release version like I had. And if I'm not mistaken he had issues with RSD Gen 4.9.8 and had to update to one of the newer version out. The most current the last I saw is version 5.1.8 on RSD General.

Although I don't have actual experience with the V9m, I have read a bit about it, and pyde is right on. You should probably get the newest version of RSD Gen, PST will NOT work, and double check your driver version as well.

Mickey's got the newest version of RSD Gen below, and driver version 3.5.0.

good luck.

No renaming it will not

Posted:

No renaming it will not work. The only way to do it is to not worry about the MMS file and pull it from a working Moto flash, then manually edit the fields to show VZW info correctly. I've yet to figure out why sometimes it saves as vms and others it will be mms like it needs to be. I had the same issue when I flashed over to USCC and I just went with it anyways and manually did the file. Then after it is saved o nthe phone I backed it up of the USCC flash and all was fine it saved as the *.mms file like it should.
