Verizon Motorola RAZR V3m V cast phone (need help)
First off, im still somewhat of a noob to this website. Anyway, my brother gave me his Verizon Motorola RAZR V3m V cast phone which is great, but I have Cricket and apparently need to unlock it before I can get it activated. I started with the guides section of the website. It stated the requirements needed to unlock the phone so I downloaded windows sp2 as I have Windows xp and I have followed instructions in exact order (even watched the videos to make sure i was doing it right) Now when I get to step 4, where there should be pop ups to recognize your phone, nothing happens and my phone screen says the usb cable is an "unauthorized charger". Can anyone help me?

huh? remote unlocked? what
Posted: Wed, 08/06/2008 - 19:51 by spikejoneshuh? remote unlocked? what do you mean? im lost. sorry i cant provide any insight further into the situation with your computer. it seems that you have done the process properly once on your friends computer and it worked there so it just seems that there is an issue with the computer that you are on. What that issue is, I cant really tell you because from what your diagnosis report shows, everything looks to be in order. You may want to try - just for the sake of it, disabling some of the services that run automatically on your machine. Perhaps one of them is blocking it.
Matter of fact, I seem to recall having issues with NOT having some of the services running. Check to see if you have the telephony service running. Go to start -> run -> type "services.msc" without the quotes -> press enter.
make sure that the telephony service is running (since the phone is a modem, it may cause errors with installing the drivers for it if the telephony service is not running). if the startup is disabled, change the properties to enable auto start of that feature.
The other "services" that I was referring to are the ones that you can find by downloading a program called autoruns: http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/sysinternals/bb963902.aspx
read that page there to learn how to use it properly.

Anyway remote unlock is where you send the unlock service your EMEI # via email and for anywhere from like $3.99 and up they will unlock your phone by remote. I cant get my EMEI number though. I tried dialing *#06# which is what they recommend but it does not work on the V3m phone. It is also supposed to be under the battery but I do not see it. Well i will try your recommendations from your last qoute and let you know how it works. Oh and my friend said to buy a new usb card for my comp. Do you think that would work? ----(edit): I just checked for the telephony and it was set to manual so I set it to auto. Do i need to reinstall the drivers again now? I will check out the auto run program tomorrow, i need sleep.

try first with the telephony
Posted: Wed, 08/06/2008 - 23:46 by spikejonestry first with the telephony service running (make sure the status says started/running)
clear out any drivers that you may have installed, then connect the phone to the pc and hopefully you will get prompted to install drivers for the phone. then you tell it dont do anything and run the Motorola Driver Installer.
Failing that, then you might want to look into getting a new USB card. I would assume though that if you can use it for other USB devices, it should be good.
As for remote unlocking the phone - im not positive if that is meant for cdma phones. I thought that was for GSM phones. btw.. you can get your ESN number when you connect the phone to MSU
As mentioned whoever you
Posted: Thu, 08/07/2008 - 05:11 by pyde_pypperAs mentioned whoever you talked to is talking about unlocking a GSM phone. You will never find an EMEI# seeing as those are for GSM phone, which is why the code is not working they gave you. Our CDMA phones use either and ESN or an MEID.

Posted: Thu, 08/07/2008 - 09:20 by MezzyJust wondering, what other programs might be running automatically that might be stopping my comp from recognizing my phone? There are some Ad Aware and AVG stuff on auto run. Theres alot of other stuff in there on auto as well.

Posted: Thu, 08/07/2008 - 09:23 by MezzyThanks for the info Pyde. Do I need that number (ESN or MEID) to unlock the phone? Also is there any way to remote unlock our CDMA phones via remote or do you have to take it to the dealer?

FYI unlocking in the GSM
Posted: Thu, 08/07/2008 - 10:15 by pyde_pypperFYI unlocking in the GSM world is not the same as hacking our CDMA phones. You would more then likely would need the ESN or MEID but I highly doubt you'll find anywhere that hacks CDMA phones that way. All this unlocking stuff you see on the Web is mostly relative to GSM phones and not our CDMA phones like I mentioned. that said I highly doubt they can do it remotely, it's almost a given they won't be able to.
