Verizon Motorola RAZR V3m V cast phone (need help)
First off, im still somewhat of a noob to this website. Anyway, my brother gave me his Verizon Motorola RAZR V3m V cast phone which is great, but I have Cricket and apparently need to unlock it before I can get it activated. I started with the guides section of the website. It stated the requirements needed to unlock the phone so I downloaded windows sp2 as I have Windows xp and I have followed instructions in exact order (even watched the videos to make sure i was doing it right) Now when I get to step 4, where there should be pop ups to recognize your phone, nothing happens and my phone screen says the usb cable is an "unauthorized charger". Can anyone help me?

The only programs I could think of that the developers may want to block would be torrent downloading programs like Limewire for example, because you can access mp3 files. Do you think this is possible? I dont want to uninstall anything unless theres a good chance that it is the problem.

torrent apps and P2P apps

hmm... is the UPnP service running? im not sure if it is called exactly that or not, but there are some services that are intended to detect new hardware - the one i am thinking of is somewhere along the lines of Universal Plug and Play. Has your usb port worked with ANY other devices though? like a flash drive or sd card reader?
check the list of windows services for things that look like they are related to hardware detection and if any of them are stopped, turn them on. better yet, just run that command i told you earlier on your buddies laptop - which you know it works on. Compare the list of services and match them up on yours. that might get you somewhere.

I can remember if you get that through windows update or need to download it from Microsoft.com. I tried both and got that error report message saying "Windows installer service could not be accessed. Contact your support personnel to verify that the windows installer service is properly registered." Do you know what this means?

Posted: Mon, 08/11/2008 - 07:07 by pyde_pypperJust update .NET threw windows update it's the easiest way to get it. FYI tho don't select Express when updating select custom. Once you select custom and it scans your comp it should be found under " Software, Optional" on the left hand side.
In all honesty it sound to me like you need a fresh install of XP. Not sure how long ago you have setup your comp but if it's over a year then you for sure need to start from scratch IMO. I know it is a lot of work but it makes life much easier in the long run.

of course if you have your own disc, then you can always go back to it if you find that things are still not working or you get paranoid.
