Verizon Razr V3C - How to start hack or firmware update?
Hi,
I am in no way asking anyone to give me the easy way out. I am willing to look and do the work.
I would just like an updated direction to go in to update my firmware and then be able to do a few mods or hacks.
Currently I have a Razr V3C:
S/W version: GATW_01.18.05
BREW version: 3.1.2
OpenWave: 6.2.3
In your opinion should I upgrade the firmware to have the latest and greatest on this phone? If so which one?
I would like to get into the phone and make some changes to the skins and change the banner verizon etc?
I just want the most recent info for direction.
Thank alot for your time
RM

FYI the current firmware on
Posted: Mon, 08/18/2008 - 14:16 by pyde_pypperFYI the current firmware on your phone is the most recent for the V3c. That said there isn't really anything to update to. You can do certain hacks and so forth tho I would think. Hard for me to say seeing as my v3c had the original firmware and the day I bought it I flashed it to the leaked Alltel firmware. So I've never really run any of the VZW flashes on my phone.
If you let us know the specific things you want to change we can the npoint you in the right direction. Peace

Ok thanks. I thought I saw
Posted: Mon, 08/18/2008 - 14:19 by razrmonOk thanks. I thought I saw someone talking about a new firmware something like 1.19.0 or something like that. So thanks for clearing that up.
So there is an advantage to flashing to the alltel firmware? even now? If so, I would like to know the benefits of that.
I would like to start there. The mods and hacks could wait I suppose. Flashing should be first?
Thanks
I personally don't know much
Posted: Mon, 08/18/2008 - 19:04 by teddyearpI personally don't know much about the f/w versions for the V3c, but the new f/w you refered to as 01.19.0 or something is the newest for the V3m, which is the one for which hacking is more difficult and flashing away from is nearly impossible.
Sorry I can't be of more help.
I also have a VZW V3m flashed and activated on USCC, now flashed to ViVo and active on the USCC network.
Actually. Thank you.That

Actually. Thank you.
That was helpful. Now I know.
Curious seeing as I never
Posted: Tue, 08/19/2008 - 06:04 by pyde_pypperCurious seeing as I never used that flash. To activate your phone on VZW's network do you have an 8 digit ESN, or does the phone use a 14 digit MEID. Reason I ask is as far as I know there is no issues with v3c and flashing them seeing as they were stopped being made a few years back.
The issue teddy mentioned has to do with a change to the ESN & MEID numbers on VZW's network. If you have the newer firmware on a v3m you can not flash because all the leaked firmwares are for phones with ESN and not MEID numbers.

It is the ESN 8 digit.

I have the newest firmware on the V3C Razr.
Thanks. I was just curious
Posted: Tue, 08/19/2008 - 13:27 by pyde_pypperThanks. I was just curious as to that because they stopped making the v3c so long ago. and with the change to the v3m they did it closed a lot of option for people who just got a Razr persay in the past year. Anything before that you wer pretty good to go.
Anywhoo give us a list in specific of what you would like to change/edit and we can point you in the right direction.
One thing don't even think about putting a skin on it, as it will hose everything. You need to read up on Theme here in the guide section. The VZW firmware does not use skins like the standard Moto firmware. I've seen to may new folks get involved in this and that there is the single biggest nightmare for folks because they get confused with all the different info for all the different Razr models.

Cant connect to p2k commander
Posted: Thu, 08/21/2008 - 16:27 by razrmonThanks for that.
As a starting point I would just like to connect to p2kcommander. It wont connect or see the phone.
I can see the phone and make changes in bitpim. Wouldnt that mean my drivers are good?
Thanks
Did you have MSU or PST
Posted: Thu, 08/21/2008 - 17:34 by pyde_pypperDid you have MSU or PST running in the backround prior to trying to use p2kcommander? If not that is more then likely the problem. BitPim works becasue it uses the Moto USB modem drivers, however to use p2kcommander you need to have the Moto Device drivers loaded to suspend the phone. and that is what MSU or PST does, then you can use p2kcommander or p2kseem depending on what you are doing.
