Using the HTR WAP Proxy on your USCC Razr V3m/V3c
Been around the forums here and hear all the talk about the 'free' wap hack, but can't do it on your USCC phone? Or, maybe you already have figured out how to do this. Well, this guide is for those who haven't.
A disclaimer first, I don't know about the skinny on any 'older' plans that USCC used to offer, so this 'hack' is based on the Nationwide or Wide Area plans that they have now, and that said, it isn't totally free, but it will save you about $5 per month over the EasyEdge to Go service (EE2GO). If you don't already, you should have the monthly unlimited easyedge ($9.99/mo) package added to your plan, otherwise you will be charged $2.99 per mB of data, but if you already have the EE2GO plan, you can now drop that sucker!
Ready? Well, let's go!
First off, if you're just a lurker here, you need to sign up for an account here so you can access the HTR proxy when your done. Then we need to do one seem edit and/or read the info in another seem to get this thing going.
Second, you should aquire the proper software to perform seem edits on your phone here at this site and read a bit about how to do them as well.
OK, fire up the program(s) you need to do a seem edit on your phone and in the seem editor program enter this information: Seem = 0055, Record = 0001, Bytes = 0006; then click the "Read Phone" button. In the far right hand of the seem editor window you will see a six digit number, write that number down, you WILL need it later. DO NOT do any edits to this seem! Next, enter this information in your seem editing program: Seem = 2742, Record = 0001, Bytes = 0000; then go to offset 0018 and check bit 5. Now go ahead and click the "Save to Phone" button and then exit the program(s) and power cycle your phone.
When your phone is powered back up, you can pretty much follow the 'Free Wap' guide here @ HTR, http://www.hacktherazr.com/guides/verizon/features/free-wap but when you enter the "Web Sessions" menu on your phone in step three, you will also need to enter that six digit number I asked you to write down above. There is another difference as well. When is step six of the guide mentioned above, you will find that all it says on your USCC phone is "http://". You'll want to go ahead and add/edit it so it says "http://homepage".
Also, you will not be able to access this through the regular menus on your USCC phone, so you will have to use the step mentioned as a sub text in step eight every time to access this. What you're doing is actually using the Openwave browser built into your Moto phone and totally bypassing the POS EE2GO and even the nWeb browser.
Finally, this is a rough draft of this guide, sometime soon, I will include all the ino here with better formatting to make it look 'cooler'
