Change Carrier Banner

So maybe you enjoy sporting "Verizon Wireless" on the inside and outside of your phone, but maybe you dont. Noticed how you cant change it from within the phone? Yeah. You can add another line of text but, nehhh... you really want to unbrand that phone dont you. After all, it is your phone - make it so.

Change that Carrier Banner!

1. Plug in your phone to your computer via the USB cable and then start Phone Programmer which comes with PST 7.2.3 (available from most P2P file sharing programs). This guide also assumes that you have previously setup PST and gone through the initial setup process.

2. Start P2K Seem Editer ^[DOWNLOAD]

We are about to perform a seem edit.

3. Basically this text, "Verizon Wireless" is embedded in the phones programming and you can edit this string of text from the seem editer. The maximum amount of characters that you can put is 16 characters. Lets start by by loading up the proper seem and locating the text we will be changing. Use the following seem information:



Change Carrier Banner WORKS 296a Bytes: 24 Record: 0005 Allows you to change "Verizon Wireless" or otherwise to something of your liking. Make sure to take note of the different seem, bytes, and record.

4. You will notice that on the right side of P2K Seem Editer that there is Verizon Wireless written on 2 lines. You've located the proper place, and we're about to change that bad girl. First, we must warn you to NOT change anything before the V of Verizon OR after the S of wirelesS.

5. Now, simply click on the V of Verizon and you can begin to type in the new carrier banner. Remember that you cannot go past the S of wirelesS. A good method of aligning your new text (in the center) is in the next step.

6. Considering that allowed amount of characters is 16 that means that if your new text is really short, and you want to center that text, that you need to figure out how many spaces will be in your new banner.

Figure out what you want to put in place of Verizon Wireless and count the amount of characters (spaces count as a character). For our example, we will be using "Hack the Razr" which is 13 characters. We have an uneven amount of characters, which means that our banner will either be 1 character to the left or 1 character to the right

Take the amount of characters and subtract it from 16. For our example that would leave us with 3. So that means we need to put 1 space before the H of Hack and then 2 spaces after the R of razR. Pressing the space bar is fine (for spaces in the banner as well).

7. After you fix it to your liking, you're pretty much set after we save the changes. Go ahead and click the Save to Phone button to save the changes you just made.

8. Last step is to restart your phone. You can either click the Restart Phone button on the P2K Seem Editer program or you can just turn your phone off then back on.

Yee haw. You've now unbranded your phone and customized that text to make it your own. Enjoy.
