Change Outside LCD image

This section relates to the Razr Phones provided by Verizon Wireless only.

Sick and tired of seeing that fugly Verizon advertisement on the outside of your phone when its open? Well ok, you might not see it, but other people do - and whats sweeter then customizing it to your own likeness? Yeah I know I know, get on with it! Good news is its pretty easy (with the proper setup) and you can create your own images as long as you have them set to the proper size.

Used in this guide:
* Motorola Razr V3M / V3C for Verizon
* P2K Commander [DOWNLOAD]
* PST 7.2.3 - Phone Programmer

Change outside LCD Image
    1. Plug in your phone to your computer via the USB cable and then start Phone Programmer which comes with PST 7.2.3 (available from most P2P file sharing programs). This guide also assumes that you have previously setup PST and gone through the initial setup process.

    3. There should be a left and a right window pane (both physical sides of the program look the same). There is a drop down menu on both sides that display C:\ and then have a button that says [Re-Read]. Choose the side you wish to explore your Razr on by clicking the drop down menu and clicking on "P2K Mobile Phone"

    If it starts to do something and reads in the bottom left corner:

      Usb p2k device found, phone connected !
      GENERIC FAILURE.     thats normal
      Volume name fail!     thats normal as well

    Then the progress bar should start growing and the bottom left should start to display all the files (names) as the filesystem is downloaded. Success, go onto the next step. If you had problems, continue reading.

    If it snaps back to C:\ and the bottom left window reads

      No p2k device found, NOT connected!
      USB: IO Time-out!
      CMD: Data write fail!
      Volume Name fail!

    yeah that means it failed for some reason. Simply close P2k Commander and Phone Programmer, unplug your phone and give it a couple seconds... plug your phone back in and do the same process.

    4. If you have verizon, the window pane that you chose should have a folder that reads "a".

    5. double click on the folder "a" and then double click the folder labeled "mobile"

    6. You should now be located in the directory P2k:/a/mobile/ -- if you have verizon, you will see verizon.gif.

      Whatever you do, DO NOT DELETE the original verizon.gif from your phone.

    8. On the other window pane (where your phones files are not located) go ahead and locate the image that you would like to replace your original outside LCD image with.

    If you saved the new verizon.gif image to c:\razr\ then simply type that into the address located that is directly above "Filename" and then press enter

      If you saved it somewhere else then you need to locate it by double clicking the folder at the top of the list that says ".." -- this is another term for "go up a directory". Continue to double click it until you figure out where you are, and then locate that verizon.gif

    9. Alright! Now we're ready to transfer that new outside LCD image, arnt you excited?! Once you have located the new verizon.gif image on your own computer, click on it (to select it) and simply Press the [Copy] button located in the bottom right hand corner of the program

    10. Success! The bottom left information screen should now say Uploading Left to Right: verizon.gif -- which means its about to be done.. give it a couple seconds, and then open your phone and look at that bad ass new LCD image.
