Heres a few things to keep in mind when transferring ringtones to the phone:
1. file format - mp3 and mid are generally the only file formats that are useable as ringtones. This info can be verified by looking at the arcconfig.ini file on your phone. See the guides section to learn where that file is located on your VZW firmware phone.
2. location you put the file - different firmware versions use different locations to store the files, make sure that you are placing the file in the proper location for your firmware version. Again, this information can be found out by looking in the arcconfig.ini file.
3. length of the audio clip - not totally positive if it really matters or not, but you really should only put a clip on there that is 30 seconds or less. Any longer than that and you are just wasting space.
4. bit rate - this might also play a role in functionality, but not to positive on this on either. Everyone knows that the speakers on these phones aren't super duper, so a low bit rate like 64 - 128 would suffice.
5. Have you deleted the mytoneDB.db file from the root of the filesystem and rebooted the phone?
6. If you are going to be removing old ringtones, make sure that they are not currently set in any of the ringer profiles. This includes settings for alarms, texts, contact specific ringers etc.
